This is for a project of mine, what do you like better, a rpg like thing that has no ranges or a TBT(Turn based tactics) like thing.

As I tried to do it, its RPG, then when people start throwing punches, it becomes turn based stat roll to make things fair for both players and the outcome becomes unpredictable to make things always interesting.

Theres no choice for that so I cant answer.

unpridictability is what makes the game fair. If you dont want to play it like that, you are still able to play it straight RPG style. No one is forcing you to use Random Roll.

As long as you and your opponent come to the understanding how ever which of you actually wins the battle.

But... then there is cheating... even i gotten Away with RR cheating in the past...

Caught cheeters will be dealt at the appropriate time. We will burn that bridge when we cross it.

i understand what you both are saying. they both have flaws.

with the turn by turn someone can play you into a corner because of how advance the person is at role playing then a weaker person. i have proof of times where an advance role player going turn by turn and massacred the player in one to two moves. also people could god mod the fight and make it last past a reasonable time (to weeks or longer because of dodging). it gives one person a higher edge then role playing.

i am still new with this role playing style but from what i see if that cheating way with RR is eliminated then it will set it up as if it could really happen. just some limits and regulations could be set by it so at lets say a level 1 does not beat a level 50 because of lucky rolls. lets say because of the energy level has a lower critical ratio so its a fair fight.

i know it might not be my place to say anything but try putting it in perspective of all players.

its better to begin ur prototype of TBT somewhere max. So that we can understand it better.

Rax you know thats not it, i mean new players. The new players will not get how TBT work, as shown by kaz... Heck If i start to explain things, they will get even more complicated.
Any way It seems that non ranged system is the most pop choice...




(TBT-turn based tactics is game system similar to TBS, But TBT uses a smaller amout of units.
The games that use TBT are:Disgaea, final fantasy tactics and Fire Emblem.
This system also goes by the name TRPG-Tactical role playing game.)
